How Random Encounters Work
Once a random encounter is triggered, the location enters cooldown for about 18 minutes after all players leave the cell.
Each encounter site runs on a “do all before repeating” rule. As long as you stay on the same server without refreshing or rebuilding it, every spawn point will cycle through all of its potential encounters before starting over.
Some encounters have regional restrictions, meaning they only appear in certain zones, while others require specific conditions—such as being inside a nuked cell. On private servers, turning on “Nuked Flora & Creatures” simulates an active blast and enables these exclusive spawns.
A few encounters include space checks: large creatures like Mega Sloths or Behemoths need enough room for their animations, so they won’t appear in cramped spots.
All encounter sites technically have a 100% chance to spawn something, but it may take up to a minute after entering the cell for the event to appear. If nothing spawns on a public server, another player likely triggered it recently, and the site is still on cooldown.
Random Encounters
There are six core types of random encounters in Fallout 76, and each type has its own dedicated set of spawn locations:
Assault – Battles between two or more factions, such as Raiders vs. Settlers or Scorched vs. Super Mutants. Great for farming meat if you’re running a Carnivore build.
Camp – Traveling merchants or other wandering NPCs who can be traded with on the road.
Object – Static props like corpses that may carry plans, or special characters such as Mr. Squeeze, who sells the Lemonade and Hard Lemonade plans.
Scene – Small set pieces, including tamable pets, idle NPC interactions, or unique encounters like the Insult Bot.
Travel – NPCs following short patrol routes, often merchants or travelers with light dialogue.
Whitespring Assault – Faction skirmishes between enemies and Whitespring security robots.

Dino Peaks Mini Golf
3x Spawns
Spawn 1

From the spawn in location, turn and face east. Walk forward and follow the road past the blue car. The spawn will be between the blue car and the Nuka-Cola machine on your left. There is also an Abraxodyne Intel Briefcase in the bus shelter near the green car.

Spawn 2

From the location above, turn around and head back up the road toward Dino Peaks Mini Golf. Continue past the map marker and stay on the main road until you reach a green and white rusty car on your right. Turn left and take the road that leads up the hill. The spawn will be out the front of the house.
There is an Abraxodyne Intel Briefcase at this location. The ruined house to the South also has an Abraxodyne Intel Briefcase in the bathtub in the basement.

Spawn 3

From the location above, jump onto the roof of the white house and face north. We’re going for a bit of a run to reach the next spawn. Staying north, run straight ahead and stop when you reach the train tracks. You should see three blue, rusty, broken train carriages and some barrels in front of you. Jump onto the roof of the last carriage on your left and face west. The spawn is either on the left-hand side of the water tank or on the right-hand side, in front of the white guard house behind the tank, depending on the size of the enemies.

Albany
2x Spawns
Spawn 1

From the spawn in location, run straight into the center of town. You can usually see this area from the spawn in location on the hill.

Spawn 2

While running down the hill, you would have passed a Pulowski Preservation Shelter, the small blue tube-shaped booth on the corner of the main road. Jump on top of it and face west. You’ll see a water tank on a hill to your right. Run up the hill to the tank, and the spawn will be around the building next to it. There’s also an Abraxodyne Intel Briefcase inside that building.

World of Corn
1x Spawn

From the spawn in location, face west and follow the road straight ahead. Stop when you reach the train tracks and look west. You will see a ruined red house sitting by itself on the right-hand side of the road. Run over to the house, and the spawn will be either in front of it or around the side, depending on the size of the creature that spawns.

Railroad Service Yard
2x Spawns
Spawn 1

From the spawn-in location, head northeast toward the large red and white metal power pylon. Run up to the base of the structure, enemies can spawn directly beneath it or scattered around either side, depending on their size. There is also an Abraxodyne Intel Briefcase inside the train carriage near the pylon.

Spawn 2

From the base of the power pylon, face south and run toward the main road. Once you reach it, turn east and follow the road until it ends. Turn right and continue downhill until you spot another large metal power pylon on your right. The spawn is beside the Abraxodyne truck that’s spilled red powder across the road.

Meadow Breeze Storage Depot
1x Spawn

From the spawn-in location, face west and look down the hill to spot a junk extractor pile at the bottom. Run down to the junk pile and stop beside it. Face south and follow the dirt path until you see a Brahmin corpse on the rock to your right. The spawn can appear in front of the Brahmin or on the rocks above it.

Keep heading south until you reach the train crash. Turn right and follow the line of carriages to the end, and you’ll find an Abraxodyne Intel Briefcase nearby.
Tycoon Lake
1x Spawn

From the spawn-in location, face southwest and run straight until you reach the opposite side of the lake. When you reach the corner of the dam wall, turn south and continue forward. The spawn is in the circle of trees at the top of the hill.
