How Random Encounters Work
Once a random encounter is triggered, the location enters cooldown for about 18 minutes after all players leave the cell.
Each encounter site runs on a “do all before repeating” rule. As long as you stay on the same server without refreshing or rebuilding it, every spawn point will cycle through all of its potential encounters before starting over.
Some encounters have regional restrictions, meaning they only appear in certain zones, while others require specific conditions—such as being inside a nuked cell. On private servers, turning on “Nuked Flora & Creatures” simulates an active blast and enables these exclusive spawns.
A few encounters include space checks: large creatures like Mega Sloths or Behemoths need enough room for their animations, so they won’t appear in cramped spots.
All encounter sites technically have a 100% chance to spawn something, but it may take up to a minute after entering the cell for the event to appear. If nothing spawns on a public server, another player likely triggered it recently, and the site is still on cooldown.
Random Encounters
There are six core types of random encounters in Fallout 76, and each type has its own dedicated set of spawn locations:
Assault – Battles between two or more factions, such as Raiders vs. Settlers or Scorched vs. Super Mutants. Great for farming meat if you’re running a Carnivore build.
Camp – Traveling merchants or other wandering NPCs who can be traded with on the road.
Object – Static props like corpses that may carry plans, or special characters such as Mr. Squeeze, who sells the Lemonade and Hard Lemonade plans.
Scene – Small set pieces, including tamable pets, idle NPC interactions, or unique encounters like the Insult Bot.
Travel – NPCs following short patrol routes, often merchants or travelers with light dialogue.
Whitespring Assault – Faction skirmishes between enemies and Whitespring security robots.

Dino Peaks Mini Golf
1x Spawn

From the spawn point, face North and run straight ahead. Stay as close to true North as possible until you reach the train tracks. Jump onto the orange train carriage and face West. Walk forward along the tracks, checking each carriage and nearby building for Abraxodyne Intel Briefcases as you go.
Stop when you reach the end of the second red metal bridge, then face Northwest. You’ll see the roof of a building ahead and slightly to your right. Run over to that building, stand beside the skeleton, and face East. Walk forward a few steps to reach the spawn location.
There are two Silt Bean spawns next to one of the trees here as well.

Shade Hill Church
2x Spawns

From the spawn point, face West and run forward, circling around the church until you reach the train tracks. Turn to face South and follow the tracks past the church. Stop when you reach the fallen tree lying across the rails. The spawn location is on the other side of the tree.

Shade Hill Church # 2

From the spawn above, turn around and follow the train tracks back up toward the church. Continue past the church, and when the tracks split, stay on the left track. Keep following it until the two lines merge back into one.
You’ll see a lever on your left where the tracks join. Stop there and face Southwest. In the distance, you’ll see some signs and buildings. Run straight toward them and head for the building with the red roof. Jump onto the roof, face West, and the spawn will be next to the BBQ and picnic table on your left.

Prospect Hill
1x Spawn

From the spawn-in location, face North and run forward. Stop when you reach the trailer with the blue and white awning, then jump up onto the roof.
Turn East and continue forward, jumping over the fence until you reach the main road. Face South and head down the road — the spawn location is just past the billboard. There’s also an Abraxodyne Intel Briefcase at the top of the billboard; you can climb up using the nearby tree as a ladder.

Honey Well Apiary
1x Spawn

From the spawn-in location, face West and walk across the bridge. Stop in the middle, turn South, and jump down to the ground below. The spawn location will be directly in front of you.

Sand Fork Lumber
1x Spawn

From the spawn-in location, face North and run forward, dropping down to the ground below. Turn right and follow the road all the way down the hill. Jump over the truck trailer and keep running straight. Hop the fence, and the spawn location will be next to the large tree in the middle of the field.
