Spooky Scorched Event Guide

Spooky Scorched have style and grace and will punch you in the face with a melee weapon...well try to anyway.

Loot from Spooky Scorched

Defeating Spooky Scorched gives:

  • A 1-, 2-, or 3-star weapon or armor piece

  • A Spooky Treat Bag

  • A piece of Mystery Candy

Spooky Treat Bags

Spooky Treat Bags are unique drops from Spooky Scorched, offering a variety of Halloween-themed rewards, Alcohol, Grenades, and the chance for rare plans and apparel.

After looting a Spooky Scorched, the Spooky Treat Bag will appear in the "Aid" section of your Pip-Boy. Simply select it and press A (or your platform’s equivalent) to open and reveal the contents.

Spooky Treat Bag Contents:

  • Contextual Ammo: When you open a Spooky Treat Bag, you’ll receive ammo for the weapon you currently have equipped.

  • Goodies: Includes items like alcohol (such as Bourbon, Wine, and Vodka) and explosives like Fragmentation Grenades.

  • Treats: Includes festive snacks like bubblegum and cotton candy bites.

  • Plans and Apparel: Unique-themed apparel, costumes, and rare camp items.

  • Pumpkin and Pumpkin Rack Plans: Seasonal plans to add Halloween flair to your camp decor.

Spooky Scorched: All Rewards

Spooky Scorched: Rewards Checklist

Important Notes:

  • Character-Locked: Spooky Treat Bags are bound to the character who finds them.

  • Non-Tradeable: They cannot be dropped or traded with other players.

  • Unavailable in Vendor Inventories: These bags cannot be bought from robot or NPC vendors.

  • Not Found in Collectrons: They won’t appear in Collectrons, so they’re only available as drops.

  • Cannot Be Displayed: Spooky Treat Bags cannot be placed in display cases, so they’re purely for practical use.

Spooky Candy Bowl and Trick-or-Treating Challenge

The Spooky Candy Bowl, available for free in the Atom Shop during the event, lets you share Mystery Candy with other players. Place it near your camp entrance for trick-or-treating Wastelanders to find and enjoy.

To prevent over-eager players from emptying the candy bowl in one go, the game has set some rules for interacting with the bowl:

  • Candy can be taken only once per hour, per character, per camp.

  • Leaving and rejoining the world does not reset the 60-minute cooldown.

  • The Spooky Candy Bowl shares a cooldown period across all camp slots.

  • Scrapping and rebuilding the candy bowl does not reset the cooldown timer.

  • The candy bowl’s inventory is shared between camp slots, similar to how vendor machines operate.

This event includes a Trick-or-Treating Challenge that rewards themed apparel and camp items. To participate, visit other camps in costume and interact with their candy bowls, or encourage players to trick-or-treat at your camp.

Tip: Camps with active candy bowls will have a candy bowl icon displayed on the map.

Mystery Candy Effects

Mystery Candy can be looted from Spooky Scorched or bought from faction robot vendors. When consumed, it provides one of the following effects for 10 minutes:

  • Lucky Break: +1 Luck

  • Mystery Treat Surprise: Causes a blackout

  • Sugar Rush: +2 Agility, -1 Intelligence

  • Sugar Strength: +1 Strength

  • Sugar Vision: +1 Perception

Hunting Spooky Scorched

Spooky Scorched have a 10% chance to spawn in the Wasteland, so areas with many enemies increase your chances. These enemies play Halloween-themed music when you’re nearby, and they can be found in costumes like:

  • Silver Shroud Outfit

  • Pirate Outfit

  • Viking Outfit

  • Witch Outfit

  • Executioner Outfit

  • Cuddles the Clown (Psycho Outfit)

  • Rubber Monster Outfit

  • Jack Gourdon Outfit

> Note: Occasionally, you may come across a legendary Scorched playing Halloween-themed music but missing a costume. If you kill them while they’re not dressed up, there’s a good chance the treat bag and candy won’t appear in their inventory.

To fix this, move out of sight of the Scorched (ensuring they’re still alive) until they’re no longer visible. Wait about 30 seconds, then return—they should now be wearing a costume.

Best Events to Find Spooky Scorched

Certain events are great for farming Spooky Scorched. They have multiple waves of enemies, maximizing spawn potential:

  • A Real Blast – Seneca Rocks Visitor Center

  • Always Vigilant – Relay Towers DP-B5-21 & EL-B1-02

  • Bots on Parade – Berkeley Springs Station (may sometimes spawn Super Mutants instead)

  • Census Violence – Big Bend Tunnel East, Drop Site V9, and Ranger District Office

  • Collision Course – Morgantown Airport (check the supply drop afterward for a chance at a colored baseball bat)

  • Distant Thunder – Any location

  • Distinguished Guests – (may sometimes spawn Super Mutants instead)

  • It’s a Trap – Any location

  • Line in the Sand

  • Protest March

  • Scorched Earth

  • Surface to Air

Force Spawn Method

You can also use the Force Spawn Method below to hunt Spooky Scorched. This works on both public and private servers.

> Note: Spooky Scorched will not spawn inside buildings or in areas that require a loading screen to enter.

  1. Pick 10 to 12 locations from the list below. It’s recommended to stay within one region or two regions next to each other on the map due to how cells and spawns work.

  2. Fast travel to the first location on your list and kill all the enemies you find.

  3. Loot every enemy—even if they’re not Spooky Scorched. Clearing bodies from the area is essential for new spawns. You can drop any items you don’t need afterward.

  4. Move to the next location and repeat: kill all enemies and loot all bodies.

  5. Continue through each location on your list, following the same steps. After completing all locations, take a 10-minute break, then return to the first location and start again.

If Spooky Scorched doesn’t appear on the first round, don’t worry—they often spawn on the second or third pass.

Stick to 10 to 12 locations. If you use fewer than 10, you may need to wait longer—about 20 to 25 minutes—before returning to the first location.
