Gearin' Up is part of the Burning Springs DLC that drops in December 2025
This event will be permanently added to the Public Event list.
A notification will appear in the top left-hand corner of your screen and in the World Activity tab in the bottom left-hand corner.

As with all new events, Gearin' Up will be one of two events that can run on the hour, every hour for the first two weeks after the patch.
Make sure you’ve got Healing, Friendly Fire, and Medic perk cards ready, along with a weapon that can actually trigger them. This event failed so many times on the PTS because the Deathclaw kept dying. The enemies hit hard, and there are plenty of them. If you’re not combat-focused, dust off those healing perks and follow that Deathclaw around like an unwashed raider.
You will struggle to solo this event unless you know every barrel spawn and can run a healing setup and a high damage build at the same time.
Enemies:
Rust Raiders
Snallygasters
Legendary Deathclaws
The Event
Stage 1: Start the Event
You have 4 minutes to speak to the Beastmaster and begin the event.

Stage 2: Collect 40 Sturdy Scrap Metal
Collect 40 Sturdy Scrap Metal.
The Scrap Metal Barrels spawn separately for each player, so if someone else picks up a barrel, it will still be available for you to collect.

Deposit them in the Forge Machine within 4 minutes.

I didn’t have time to document every barrel spawn, but the path is straightforward once you know it. Start at one of the main junkyard entrances and follow the path with the junk on your left and the path edge on your right. Most of the barrels will be on your left, with only a few appearing on the right. Stay on that line and only cross over if you can see a barrel directly ahead. If you wander off the path, you’ll lose time and won’t be able to collect all 40 barrels before the timer ends.
Stage 3: Wait Time
After depositing the scrap, there is a 40 second wait while the Forge Machine creates and equips armour for the tamed Deathclaw.

Stage 4: Emote for the Deathclaw
The Deathclaw needs a bit of encouragement. Use 20 emotes to progress this stage.
Completing the emotes gives a 347 XP bonus.

Stage 5: Escort the Tamed Deathclaw
There is a 15 second delay before the Deathclaw leaves its cage and begins moving through the junkyard.

Stage 6: Defend the Deathclaw
Waves of Rust Raiders will attack for 3 minutes while the Deathclaw walks around the junkyard.

Stage 7: Wait Time
There is a 30 second break before the next enemy wave begins.

Stage 8: Defend the Deathclaw
Snallygasters will spawn and continue to attack the Deathclaw for 2 minutes during its route.

Stage 9: Wait Time
There is a 30 second break before the final enemies appear.

Stage 10: Defeat the Deathclaw Matriarch
Three legendary Deathclaws will spawn at the Eastern entry to the junkyard. The tamed Deathclaw will move toward them.
You have however many minutes left on the event to defeat all three legendary Deathclaws without letting your tamed Deathclaw die.
