What is a Weak Spot

A weak spot is a part of a creature that takes either more or less damage than usual when hit. Some areas, such as heads or exposed fuel cells, are vulnerable and take additional damage. Others, such as shells or armored limbs, reduce the damage you deal.

You can tell you’re hitting a weak spot when your damage numbers change to a dark yellow or orange color. This visual cue appears whenever you strike a body part with a damage multiplier above 1.00, letting you know you’re dealing bonus damage.

Perk Cards and Mods That Boost Weak Spot Damage

These perks and mods all increase your damage to enemy weak spots. Their effects stack together additively, and the combined bonus is applied before other multipliers like sneak or V.A.T.S.

What Is a Damage Multiplier and How Does It Work?

Each limb or body part has a damage multiplier that determines how much damage your attack will do:

  • Above 1.00 – The part takes extra damage.

    • Example: A 1.50 multiplier means you deal 150% of your normal damage, or 50% more than usual.

  • Exactly 1.00 – The part takes normal damage.

  • Below 1.00 – The part is resistant.

    • Example: A 0.75 multiplier means you deal only 75% of your normal damage, making it harder to break or damage.

How to Use This Calculator

With thanks to Scratchy

  1. Select the creature you are fighting from the drop-down menu.

  2. The table will display each limb or body part, along with its damage multiplier and the calculated damage output.
