Farming tips and tricks

Strangler Blooms are a pick-up history spawn.

If you don't know what that means, please read over my How Spawns Work guide first.

The following perk cards, magazines, and/or backpack mods will increase your yields.

When crafting Radshield, remember to equip the Chemist perk card under Intelligence and Super Duper rank 3 perk card under Luck.

Up to two Strangler Blooms can drop as event rewards if the event is successful.

The drop rates depend on how many friendly creatures are alive at the end of the event.

Two friendly creatures left alive - 30%

Three friendly creatures left alive - 60%

As of August 2023, Strangler Blooms are bugged and will only spawn if a character on that server has the An Organic Solution quest open in their pip boy.

Because of this bug, there is only one way to farm for Strangler Blooms.

You will need two characters. Your main character, who has already completed the An Organic Solution questline from start to finish and has unlocked the Radshield plan, and a mule or second character who can move and fast travel.

Your mule or second character only needs to be able to move and travel while they are completing the An Organic Solution questline. They do not need to be able to move after that.

When you need Strangler Blooms or Radshield, log your mule or second character into a public or private server. I suggest a public server so that other members of the community can also benefit.

Once your mule or second character has loaded into the world, count to 30 and then leave the world again. Switch over to your main character who can craft Radshield, load back into the same server, and fast-travel over to Dryer Chemicals. The Strangler Blooms will have spawned and be ready to harvest.

Fixed Spawn Locations

A map of spawn locations can be found here.

Map Credit: Thanng from the Data Mining community.

There are 13 possible spawn locations for Strangler Blooms, with only 5 or 6 spawning at one time.

There is a way to collect more blooms without refreshing your pick-up history list.

Simply server hop at the river until you find a server with spawned Strangler Blooms. There is a chance that the blooms will spawn in one of the 6 to 7 locations that you have not harvested before.

An Organic Solution walkthrough

Your mule or second character needs to follow these steps.

To start the quest, head to Ella Ames' bunker in The Mire.

The quest will pop up on your screen and show in your pip boy.

Follow the quest prompts until you get to Dryer Chemical.

Complete the tasks at Dryer Chemical and deposit the items you have collected.

The chemicals go into the Chemical Insertion

and the bone meal goes into the Catalyst Insertion.

Jump onto the terminal and select "Confirm" and then "Flush".

Once you see the task "Collect a Strangler Bloom" on your screen, then do not go any further with the questline. Go into your pip-boy and turn the quest off.

You can harvest Strangler Blooms on this character but Do Not craft Radshield on them. If you do, you will need to repeat this whole process on another character.
