How to Start the Abraxodyne Intel Questline

You can start the Abraxodyne Intel Briefcase questline in one of two ways:

Option 1 – Pick up a Briefcase in Burning Springs

Abraxodyne Intel Briefcases only spawn around the Burning Springs region. The first time you collect one, the quest will automatically begin and direct you to Abraxodyne Chemical’s legal office in Athens.

Option 2 – Visit Athens First

If you travel to Athens before picking up any Intel, the quest will automatically appear on your screen, or in your Pip-Boy, once you enter the area. It will then guide you to investigate the Abraxodyne Chemical Legal Office.

ree

Once you arrive at Athens, follow the quest marker to the Legal Office. Enter via the green door and speak to the NPC named Bodhi.

Bodhi will ask for briefcases in return for lore holotapes.

He will start by asking for three briefcases per holotape. This then increases to four briefcases, then five, then six, then seven, and finally eight.

  • 3 briefcases × 4

  • 4 briefcases × 2

  • 5 briefcases × 3

  • 6 briefcases × 2

  • 7 briefcases × 3

  • 8 briefcases × 1

You can turn them in as you go or save them up and hand them in all at once. If you bulk-turn them in, the game will still track the total and award the correct number of holotapes. There are fourteen lore holotapes in total to collect.

Abraxodyne Intel Caches

While collecting Intel Briefcases, you may come across Abraxodyne Caches during your travels. These containers can only be opened once you’ve started the Dirty Laundry questline by speaking to the NPC in Athens, and after meeting the specific unlock conditions tied to your progress.

Each cache rewards:

• 1 random plan (Armor, Weapon, CAMP, or Power Armor)

• 1 Bulk Junk package (mixed components)

• 1 Scrambled Note (quest item)

• 3 Abraxodyne Intel Briefcases

Abraxodyne Cache 1

Closest Fast Travel Point:

  • Albany

Unlock condition: 25 briefcases collected and turned in

Note: You receive three additional Abraxodyne Intel Briefcases when you unlock this cache (currently bugged and not dropping - 23/11/25).

Directions:

From the spawn in location, line yourself up with the map marker and look down into the town. You’ll see a red truck trailer, a ruined brick building, and then a white house with a red door and red roof.

Head over to the white house on the far side of town and walk around it until you find the red door on the right side of the house (not the front door). Open the door, go inside, and take the stairs to the top floor. At the top, follow the wall around to your left, and you’ll find the cache in the corner near the weapons workbench.

You can grab the briefcase on the metal shelf if you want, but we’ll probably be back here later for the other spawns.

Abraxodyne Cache 2

Closest Fast Travel Point:

  • Fort Steuben

Unlock condition: 47 briefcases collected and turned in

Note: You receive three additional Abraxodyne Intel Briefcases when you unlock this cache (currently bugged and not dropping as of 23/11/25).

From the spawn in location, face east and run up the path toward the fort entrance. Enter the fort area and stop at the bonfire. Look up and to your left, and you will see a homemade windmill on top of one of the buildings. Run over to the building and either jump, jetpack, or take the stairs until you are standing on the roof. Walk over to the room beneath the windmill and go up the stairs. Turn east, and the cache is in front of you, against the eastern wall.

Abraxodyne Cache 3

Closest Fast Travel Point:

  • Dino Peaks Mini Golf

Unlock condition: 71 briefcases collected and turned in.

Note: You receive three additional Abraxodyne Intel Briefcases when you unlock this cache (currently bugged and not dropping as of 23/11/25).

From the spawn in location, face north and run forward, veer slightly right to walk under the Dino Peaks entrance sign, then continue north until you reach Hole 5 Mount Mayhem. The cache is on your right, between the volcano and the putt green.

FAQ and Important Info

Each briefcase rewards a base of 10 XP every time you collect one.

Each cache rewards a base of 50 XP every time you open one.

Will I still receive the lifetime rewards on a Custom World?

Yes, but the rewards will not carry over to Adventure mode. If you switch to Adventure, the challenges will appear as 0, and you will need to collect all the briefcases again.

Is there a way to find the briefcases without using a guide?

Yes. The briefcases emit a radar-like beeping sound that gets louder as you get closer. At night, or in dark areas, a bright red light near the handle makes them easier to spot.

Do I have to start the questline to unlock all the rewards?

Yes and No. You don’t need to start the questline to unlock the lifetime challenge rewards and weapons.

However, there are only 148 briefcase spawns in the world. To reach the 150 required to complete the lifetime challenge and unlock the final weapon drop, you need the extra briefcases that come from the caches. Those cache keys only come from completing the Dirty Laundry questline.

There’s also a separate lifetime challenge for completing the questline itself, so whether you do it depends on whether you want those additional rewards.
